Week 53 Weigh-In

Current weight - 233.8 lbs.
This week's gain - 1.4 lbs. (Edit: This was a loss, not gain! Oops!)
Total loss - 83.8 lbs.
Average Calories - 1978
Treadmill - Walked/Jogged 10.95 miles in 3 1/4 hours over 5 days burning 1,986 calories.

Thank you guys for your wonderful comments on my last post. They mean so much to me. :-) Although I'm not back 100% yet, the past two days have been good. Sunday night I pulled out my old food diaries from a year ago and looked at what I ate. Seeing that I lost the most weight when I ate less (DUH!!!) really helped me see what I needed to do.

Over the past few months I've been eating right around 2,000 calories per day (or more!) and I've been having the hardest time. I decided to cut back my calories during the day. I'm doing this because I find I have more willpower during the day. Nighttime is when the feeding frenzy begins, ya know? This way I'm more prepared for the evening snack attack.

Despite all of my food issues, I've been keeping up with the exercise pretty well. I burned a day's worth of calories over the course of the week! We'll see how long all of this works. I'd love to be in the 220's by April! :-)

Week 52 Weigh-In

Current weight - 235.2 lbs.
This week's gain - 1.4 lbs. (Edit: This was a loss, not gain! Oops!)
Total loss - 82.4 lbs.
Average Calories - 2079
Treadmill - Walked 9.44 miles in 3 hours over 3 days burning 1,466 calories.

I guess you could say that this week went okay. I'm still having a horrible time keeping the food under control. On the bright side, I did get a lot of time in on the treadmill!

I put up a new video on YouTube where I talk about my current motivational issues. You can find it here if you care to watch. Please excuse my squished head in the video. LOL I'm not quite sure what happened with that. :-)

Week 51 Weigh-In

Current weight - 236.6 lbs.
This week's gain - 2.0 lbs.
Total loss - 81.0 lbs.

Well, the damage could've been worse! I ate waaaay too much this week. As a matter of fact, I got on the scales Sunday and they said I had gained a whopping 8 lbs.! So, as you can imagine, I'll happily take the 2 lb. gain and move right along. :-)

Today I did surprisingly well being that it's Valentine's Day. I did have a bit of dark chocolate and a frosted cookie, but my caloric intake was under control. Let's hope I can continue this good behavior for the rest of the week and finish my year of weightloss down a few more pounds.

I'm still sick, but getting better. I hope to be back on the treadmill in the next day or two...even if it's only walking.

Thank you all for your kind comments on my last post. You all are right...if I hadn't dieted this past year I'd surely be even heavier now.

This may sound horribly bitchy and mean, but I think I found my inspiration. There's this woman who I know that weighs around what I used to and she and I despise each other. Every time I want to eat I think about how jealous she'll be the next time she sees me much thinner. I know it's horrible, but just thinking about it is giving me the drive to go on. Please, oh please, don't think any less of me because of this! I just need this little "competition"...if only in my own mind...to get me back in the game.

Rambling Under the Influence (Cold Medicine)

Ugh...this diet thing just gets harder and harder. If you've been following this blog for the past few months, then you'll know that I've been having a tough time since the holidays. I swear I just can't get back into the swing of things no matter how hard I try! Just when I think I'm back on track, I get derailed again!

Lately I've been digging around inside my head trying to figure out what is different than before. What I've been able to come up with is that I've been doing this thing for almost a year and I'm not even half way done. At this rate it will take, at the minimum, another year and a half to reach my goal. Just thinking about how far I still have to go makes me tired.

More thoughts rattling around up there are... "Wow! I've lost over 80 lbs. and I feel great! Why continue to suffer with food restrictions? Why not stop right now?" Logically, I know I need to keep going. Psychologically, I'm just drained...spent...done.

I know I can't give up. Yet every day this week I've been fighting a losing battle. Maybe I need to find a new hobby to keep my mind off of food? If only I could recapture that spark, that intense drive to lose weight that I had just one year ago. I know I'm going to gain this week which makes me want to just say "screw it!" and dig into a bowl of M&M's. Ugh! I need a nap. :-(

I'm so sick! :-(

Looks like I finally got the cold my kids had. I feel like total crap and I'm starving! My diet is totally out the window today. :-( I'll try to keep the damage to a minimum. Waaaaah!!! I hate being sick.

Week 50 Weigh-In

Current weight - 234.6 lbs.
This week's loss - 1.2 lbs.
Total loss - 83.0 lbs.
Average calories per day - 2135
Treadmill - 5.31 miles in 1 1/2 hours over 3 days burning 1,003 calories (according to my Polar HRM).

I was pretty good for most of the week, but Thursday I had 2900 calories which screwed up my daily average. Even with the minor slip, I still lost a little over a pound! Woohoo! :-) Hopefully that doesn't catch up with me on my next weigh-in. :-/

I'm still working on Week 4 of the C25K and it looks like it will be at least another week or two before I can move on to Week 5. For some reason I'm having a harder time with it than I did in the fall when I was even heavier. Not sure why. My heartrate has frequently been hitting 160+ bpm which is too high for me. I swear I can tell the second it hits 160 because I'll start to feel kind of ill (achy lungs and chest) and I'll look at the monitor and see 160 - 161 bpm every single time. As a result, I feel I need to stay at my current level until I consistently stay under 150 bpm. The 5K I'm hoping to run isn't until November so I still have plenty of time to train.

I just started watching the first episode of Australia's Biggest Loser and I'm at the point where they're in the room with all of the food. In there they had something I'd never heard of and had to look up...Fairy Bread. I'm sorry, my dear Aussie friends, but isn't it a little weird to put cake/cookie decorations on top of buttered bread??? First Vegemite, then Kanga Bangers, and now this! LOL What will you guys think of next? :-D

Week 49 Weigh-In

Current weight - 235.8 lbs.
This week's loss - 1.4 lbs.
Total loss - 81.8 lbs.
Average calories per day - 1957
Treadmill - 3.62 miles in 1 hour over 2 days burning 686 calories.

I swear I don't know what's wrong with me! I just can't have a great week! This week was "okay", but I missed one day of exercise and I overate one day which messed up my daily caloric average. At least I had a loss this week.

Australia's version of The Biggest Loser starts in a few days and I can't wait! Last year I found their version so much more inspiring than the US version. Maybe this will be what I need to stay motivated? Like last year, I'll probably only watch it while on the treadmill. They have it on 6 days a week so that's a lot of treadmill time. :-D I hope they still have that cool theme song!

Last Friday we got a puppy. She's a Labradoodle (Yellow Lab & Standard Poodle mix) and she's almost 4 months old. Aside from being a bit stinky, she's the best puppy ever! So sweet and cuddly. I'll post a pic soon. Oh...we named her Snickerdoodle just like the cookie. :-)

Week 48 Weigh-In

Current weight - 237.2 lbs.
This week's gain - 0.4 lbs.
Total loss - 80.4 lbs.

Whew! Time has flown by. I hadn't even realized that I missed posting "Week 48". I did okay for most of the week, but my birthday was the day before weigh-in and I blew the diet eating ice cream cake that night. It was worth it. :-D
